The bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position, affecting the driver’s vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash. Failure of the toe adjuster link will cause an abrupt change in the vehicle's alignment, resulting in a loss of control and increasing the risk of ac rash. A loose toe adjuster link can cause the vehicle to sway or wander at highway speeds and eventually fail under fatigue. In the affected vehicles, the jam nut in the rear suspension toe adjuster link may not be torqued to the proper specification. The dealers will replace the adjustable toe link with a non-adjustable one, free of charge. The rear suspension toe link adjuster may not have been tightened properly, which could result in a loose toe link, causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash. This issue has received two separate recalls (ID-21V473000 and 14V571000) for suspected assembly problems. Suspension problems- The 2011 Cadillac SRX is known for a few suspension issues with the major one being a faulty rear toe link adjustor.However, recent updates show that the automaker would reimburse any kind of expense the owner has incurred for issues with the headlamp in light of a class-action lawsuit. Though this issue is widespread, the manufacturer has not provided any kind of support to the owners initially. Water logging inside the lens has also been reported to cause repeated bulb failure. Headlamp Problems- Excessive condensation causing reduced headlamp performance is one of the most reported complaints on the 2011 Cadillac SRX as per the NHTSA.Since the unit comes integrated into the wheel hub/ bearing unit, the entire thing needs a replacement. The primary cause was traced to be a faulty wheel speed sensor ready caused by damage to the wheel reluctor failure. StabiliTrak issues- “Service StabiliTrak system”, “Service traction control system” and “reduced engine power” are warning that multiple 2011 Cadillac SRX owners have come across.Recent updates show that a service bulletin has been published by the manufacturer on this issue for rectification. When the oil level in the clutch pack gradually reduces due to this leak, a warning is illuminated and a code C0407 is generated in relation to this complaint. This issue is primarily caused to an oil leak in the rear differential housing. Rear axle issues- “Service real axle” is a common warning that 2011 Cadillac SRX owners come across.Owners are advised to get the unit inspected at the dealer to prevent the possibility of failure. Drivers may notice a gradual loss of braking power primarily indicated by spongy brake pedal feel or excessive brake pedal travel. Service brake- Initial batches of the 2011 Cadillac SRX are known for brake booster/ brake pump failure.Several such instances have been reported by the NHTSA and users are advised to get the vehicle repaired under recall 11V595000. This may cause the vehicle to not fall in “park”, even if the indicator says so, causing the vehicle to roll and crash. Transmission- Though not many internal mechanical complaints have been reported on the 2011 Cadillac SRX’s transmission, premature failure of the shift cable is something that owners must be aware of.The manufacturer has an ongoing service bulletin on this issue and owners are advised to get the vehicle inspected at the nearest dealer in any indication are failures are seen. If the vehicle is driven with a stretched timing chain, extensive damage to the engine can occur which would necessitate an engine replacement. The codes which usually point to this failure are P0016 and P0017. Multiple owners have reported experiencing excessive misfiring/knocking, engine noises, loss of power, and random stalls all of which are usually accompanied by one or more malfunctioning lights.
